Styrene - Butadiene Rubber (SBR)
Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR), also known as Buna-S, is a synthetic copolymer of styrene and butadiene.
Features:
– SBR has excellent impact strength, good resilience, tensile strength, abrasion resistance and maintains flexibility at lower temperatures.
– The properties of SBR are broadly similar to NR, for chemical, solvent, and weather resistance. The upper temperature heat aging resistance limit is a little higher.
– It is not the polymer of choice where resistance to oil, gasoline and hydrocarbon solvents is required. SBR materials are also not suitable for exposure to the outside elements such as UV and ozone.
Application:
- Tire treads
- Cable insulation
- O-rings
- Conveyor belts
- Industrial hoses
- Shoe soles
